Community Development

At Yates Freelance Services, LLC, we are committed to fostering strong community connections through collaboration, volunteerism, and meaningful partnerships. We actively engage with local businesses and organizations in Washington, DC, supporting initiatives that drive social impact and economic growth. Our efforts include partnering with nonprofits, small businesses, and government programs to promote workforce development, entrepreneurship, and community outreach.

One of our key engagements is with the Marion Barry Summer Youth Employment Program (MBSYEP), where we support youth empowerment by providing mentorship, skills training, and professional development opportunities. Through these initiatives, we aim to uplift communities, create opportunities, and contribute to a thriving, inclusive business ecosystem in DC.

The Marion Barry Summer Youth Employment Program (MBSYEP) is a vital DC initiative that provides young residents with career-building experiences, professional development, and exposure to various industries. As a proud summer employer in 2020, 2021, and 2022, Yates Freelance Services, LLC welcomed 3-5 participants each year, ages 18-24, including both college-bound students and those entering the workforce directly.

As a DC-based small business, founded by a former MBSYEP participant, it was an incredibly rewarding experience to mentor and support the next generation of professionals. We provided hands-on learning opportunities in business operations, marketing, and entrepreneurship, helping participants gain valuable skills and confidence. Looking ahead, we are excited to re-engage with MBSYEP in 2025, continuing our commitment to empowering DC youth and fostering local talent.
